Telecommunications in the Railway and Metro Sector
Project Features
The synergies between our Railways and Communications business lines enable us to provide clear added value in telecommunications solutions for railway environments. As a result of these synergies, we have successfully undertaken various projects:
- Tunnel coverage with mixed systems of antennas and radiating cables.
- Tunnel repeater systems, both radio and fiber optic, where we also execute the fiber links between repeaters and the Master Units.
- Maintenance of mobile networks for operators providing coverage to these infrastructures.
- Fiber optic links for the interconnection of operator networks with Adif’s carrier network.
We have certified Pilots and Supervisors, allowing us to execute these projects autonomously and on a turnkey basis.

- Radiating cable in Metro de Madrid lines 1, 4, 5, and 6.
- Communications systems in the Loranca and Hortaleza depots of Metro de Madrid.
- Fiber optic deployment on Metro de Madrid Line 7.
- Comprehensive tunnel coverage systems on high-speed rail (LAV) lines:
- Madrid-Lérida
- Córdoba-Málaga
- Orense-Santiago

FTTH and FTTN Network Deployment
SEMI has been involved in the deployment of FTTH networks, with over 100,000 homes passed, and FTTN links, with more than 3,000 connected nodes. These projects add to SEMI’s extensive experience in the deployment and maintenance of fixed networks, both for operators and carriers, as well as utilities, in aerial and underground environments.
